The Eleventh International Adult Aural Rehabilitation Conference
The Hearing Rehabilitation Foundation (HRF) hosted the First International Adult Aural Rehabilitation Conference in Portland, Maine, in 2001, and we are now very happy to announce that we will be hosting the eleventh meeting in this series in Woburn, Massachusetts. The conference will be held on April 24 – 25, 2023 at the Hilton Boston/Woburn Hotel. For participants coming from outside the US, there is the opportunity to attend the American Academy of Audiology Conference in Seattle, WA prior to attending the Adult AR Conference. The AAA Conference runs from April 19 – 22, 2023.

The theme of the Eleventh International Adult AR conference will be “Aural Rehabilitation: The Road Less Travelled.” We are calling for papers that embrace the theme of providing AR services in the office/clinic and/or in the surrounding community. Even before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the use of distance outreach services via telecommunication services were increasing in AR, and their use has greatly increased over the past two years. We welcome any papers on innovations in this increasingly important area.

The Conference will start with a reception at the HRF Office in Woburn, MA on the evening of Sunday, April 23, 2023. This informal event will run from 5:00 – 7:00 PM and will provide a chance to catch up with old friends, and to meet participants from other places. There will be a shuttle running to and from the conference hotel to the HRF office.
The meeting will run for two full days (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM), and, will feature a small faculty of Invited Speakers, and contributed papers. We are very pleased to be able to announce that the Keynote Speaker for the conference will be Nina Kraus from Northwestern University. Dr. Kraus’ work is very well known and her recent book, “Of Sound Mind,” is a wonderful addition to any library. The conference will also include a panel of adults with hearing loss speaking about the services they would like to see AR practitioners provide.
